Information for birth parents who do not want to be contacted by their adopted child
If you do not want to have contact with an adopted relative, then you should register your wish for no contact on the Adoption Contact Register. This facility is available for adoptions that took place prior to 30th December 2005, for both birth relatives and adopted people who are 18 years and over who want to register a wish for no contact or a wish for contact. The Adoption Contact Register is held by the General Register Office (GRO).
